Estimated cost at this time is $US350. Program includes guest speakers, country reports, drama, outings to Lake Victoria and the Nile all meals and accommodation at the Colline Hotel. Hotel facilites include a swimming pool, gym, sauna, coffee shops and pleasant out door areas for sports and relaxation.

Finished at last

1 December 2004

Photo of dormitory

Our new dormitory, church and office has finally been finished. The building was opened and dedicated on August 26th but due to some government regulations and also to the fact that construction had not been completed the actual move in date was October 16th.

The facilities include accommodation for about 100 children, a church meeting place on the top story able to seat more than 400 people, a “gym” or play area, rooms which have an en suite toilet and bathroom (17 toilets in all, an improvement on the three or so in the old facility), clinic, office, waiting room, kitchens and guest facilities.

A big thank you goes to all who have helped make this buidling become a reality. Most support has been from Norway but donations have also come from Australia, Germany, Japan and the US. There is still some owing on the building. For ways to help with this debt please contact us.

During the year Albert Mercado working in our Davao church and Kim Min Sim, a deaf misisonary from Korea were married. They relocated from Davao to Bacolod in Negros Occidental in the central part of the Philippines.

They have established a new Immanual Church for the Deaf in Bacolod city and are working with two mature deaf leaders to form new groups in surrounding towns too. We look forward to a baptismal service on December 12th when 25 candidates will be baptized.

Land Title Received

1 December 2004

Deaf School in Kenya

Kenya Christian school for the deaf in Oyugis finally got the land title for some hectares of land purchased a long time ago. Gloria Catalico Okello and her husband Charles have worked tirelessly to get this title through. Next project will be the construction of the new school building so that the move can be made from the rented building and temporary tin sheds used at present.

Handprints of the Creator 2nd Edition

1 December 2004

Handprints of the Creator

Peter Nicholls has completed the second edition of his booklet “Handprints of the Creator”. DMI is helping in the sale of this book where all profits have been donated to DMI. This booklet made up of photos around Australia interspersed with scripture quotes makes a lovley little Christmas gift. It is the perfect thing to take to some one in hospital who does not have the energy to read very much. These are available through us for $AUD10 or $US8. Contact us if you would like to order.

New Dormitory

18 July 2004

Dormitory under construction

Contruction is well underway on DMI’s new dormitory and church for the Deaf in Davao Philippines. Opening date will hopefully be in August of this year when the ministry can move from its currnent rented facilities on the highway to the new facilites in a quiet no through road which is in fact the same road that the school for the deaf is in where our children attend school.

The new facility can accommodate about 100 children in rooms that have a toilet and bathroom attached. As well as much improved assommodation we have room for a church and a covered “gym” or basket ball court playing area. There is also a clinic, guest facilities, office for DMI Mindanao and a reception area.

We still need $AUD100,000 or about $US70,000 to pay back the loan that was made to enable us to finish the building quickly. If you would like to help us with this need please let us know.

MMM recently sent an team from Australia to help with the construction. Great appreciation has been expressed for their contribution.

Kangwha Immanuel Church 20th Anniversary

25 January 2003

Church in Kangwha

The Kangwha Immanuel Church for the Deaf (DMI) in Korea is celebrating its 20th Anniversary on 23 March 2003. The Kangwha Church was started by Neville after meeting a group of local deaf people on a mountain in the middle of Kangwha Island 20 years ago.

The church now is pastored by Lee Doo Hyong and his wife Kumiko. They were able to purchase land and build their own church a couple of years ago and now have the nicest facilities of any of the churches.

Neville and Lill hope to attend the celebration where Neville will be the guest preacher.

Lee Chi A, another DMI worker will be married March 22nd. Neville will be performing the ceremony.
