Ministry in Egypt
90% of Egypt’s population is Muslim, which makes Christian ministry difficult. Although the current government have made small steps towards increasing religious freedoms, it is still illegal to convert from Islam to Christianity. Laws that protect religious freedoms are in reality only enforced when it protects the Muslim majority, meaning Christians are often persecuted by people who have no fear of conviction through the legal system.
DMI’s ministry in Egypt consists of six churches spread throughout the country. Church members support one another as best they can in a society that is very hostile towards Christianity.
